MP Source

Congratulations are due to the volunteers who have put together a tremendous site called TheyWorkForYou.com: Is your MP working for you in the UK's Parliament?

Using the raw material from Hansard, the site lets you find out lots of stuff about any MP's contribution (and income), search for anything said in Parliament since 2001 and comment on recent debates and written answers. It does all this quickly and simply.

Just by way of contrast, try finding the same sort of information on the official UK Parliament site. You'll have a struggle. Anyone would think our MPs didn't really want us to know what they were up to.

As so often on the web, enthusiasts have set a standard that the Government's vast communications empire has yet to reach . Excellent stuff.

Biographies galore

If you need quick biographical information on someone, preferably someone American, take a look at Who2. Each entry provides a bare minimum of facts (date and place of birth, principal point of interest) and a compact biography. Then there are links to a handful of relevant pages.
