EU For You

The EU has revamped its website to make things more accessible for those of us who are paying for it. Here's a link to its News - Headlines page.

If you're really keen, or just finding sleep difficult, there's live streaming of the institution's meetings. As I write this, for instance, I'm watching a meeting of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs with Jean-Claude Trichet. Oops, someone's just asked him a question in Slovenian. Luckily, there's live translation.

Free pictures

Sometimes, especially if you're doing a mock-up or a presentation of some sort, you need free pictures. Yotophoto is a search engine that claims to have 100,000 pictures in its index.

What's more, it claims to have asked all their owners about any terms and conditions that apply to anyone wanting to use them free. That information appears underneath the thumbnail of the pictures on the search results pages, along with details of the size of the original pic and its owner. Very useful.

Another blog search tool

I'm a great enthusiast for the blogging movement, and another search tool can't hurt. So give IceRocket a try.

On a quick test, it performed much better than Daypop (although their blogs are hand-picked) and as well as Technorati, Feedster or Blogpulse.

Bloglines is hopeless for searching, but it is a good place to keep your RSS feeds if you can't be bothered about setting them up on your own computer. (I use Safari, which has a built-in RSS reader. Internet Explorer is supposed to get that some time next year.)
